Commissions
Welcome to Semi-Abstract Commissions by Brenda Myrick
I would love to work together to create a semi-abstract painting of your horse for you. My goal is to create a likeness and capture the spirit... while incorporating abstract elements into your painting creating a unique and dynamic piece of art. I have been told that I have a gift for capturing an animal's spirit in paint like the realistic painting shown on the left. Recently I have made a departure from this realistic style. It has taken a very long time to reach this point in my studio practice. I now offer you a different point of view.
I am excited to bring this new opportunity to my collectors!!!!
Lets begin to find out what would be needed in order for me to do a custom portrait for you in the vein of my new semi-abstract commissioned portraits.
Take a look below at the finished painting and the photo that I used.

How to start the process of commissioning me for your portrait
STEP 01
Send me your photos that you would like me to consider for your portrait. Ideally, I would love to have one perfect photo to work with. I would also like reference photos. Your stories about your horse would also be welcome! We can start a conversation about your horse and portrait. I also have a great resource for photo references if you just want to pick a photo for me to work with....let me know and I can send to you to pick. I love to visit and take photos too if you are local!!!!
STEP 2
Tips on how to photograph a horse if you don't already have a suitable photo.
Take your photos outside. Make sure the subject is not too far away-try to fill about one third of the screen. Photographing horses can be tricky-often the neck looks distorted. Try to get your horse to turn it's head towards you....Take a shot from the side. or facing the horse. Take the halter off if possible or leave on if you want it in the finished portrait.
